Twenty-eight-year-old, Sarah has accused Nana Agradaa of scamming her and took pieces of gold given her by her grandmother late Nana Aku Sika at Axim in the Western Region of Ghana.

In a petition filed at the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service addressed to the Director-General the lady gave an account of how the incident happened in May 2019.

According to Sarah in the petition, at the time the grandmother gave her the said gold, wrapped in a back polythene bag, she was about 10year adding that “She[the late grandmother] then told me that the gold is a gift to me and that I should not come and take it until I am about 25year of age. She also warned me not to tell anyone until I am ready to exhume the item. She also added that after taken the gold, I must get someone preferably a spiritualist to pray over the items before I use them.”

Sarah said the grandmother took her to the farm where she buried the gold under a palm tree for a safe keep for the young Sarah.

Sarah further told the Police that “That sometime in March 2019, I then recollected what my grandmother gave me and told me so I went to Axim to exhume the gold. It was exactly as we buried it. At the time, I was wondering which spiritualist could help bless the gold as my grandmother directed. One day I was watching Thunder TV when I saw Nana Agradaa speaking about her spiritual powers.”

“I then took the numbers on the TV screen and called. I made several attempts to speak to her but some men will usually answer the call and tell me I can only get the opportunity to speak to her if I come to her shrine at Suotoum. One day, I called again the told the man that answered that I wanted to speak to her because I have some gold that I wanted her to bless for me before I used it. At that instance, the man handed over the phone to Nana Agradaa who then asked me to go and bring the gold.” – Sarah continued

The victim stated that on the day that she brought the gold to Nana Agradaa, she met priestess “at her signboard where she arrived in a white big car. She was accompanied by four men, one driving, one at the front, and two sitting beside her at the back. She [Nana Agradaa] then opens the door for me to sit beside her. They then took the item from me, opened it, and said “Eii, is your grandmother that gave you this?, then your grandmother loves you so much”. One of the men seating at the front of the car also took one of the gold and said “Eii Mummy, this is a very quality gold”

The alleged scam

Sarah told the Police that after Nana Agradaa took the gold from her in the car, she then and asked her to go back home and bring GH¢1,000 that “indeed there are a lot of rituals to be performed to purify the gold as my grandmother told me.”

Sarah told Awake News she left and had to labour in Kumasi by selling sachet water (pure water) on the streets for two months before mobilizing the GH¢1,000.

“That sometime in May 2019 before I was able to raise the GH¢1,000 and called her. This time around she asked me to come to her shrine. I got to the shrine. At the time, she had cut her hair and was wearing a yellow shirt and jean trousers. They then counted the money, GH¢5, GH¢10 and GH¢20 notes.” – She recounted.

Sarah said “after taking the GH¢1000, she [Nana Agradaa] then said the rituals to be performed are a lot so I must go and bring another GH¢4,000. I told her I will not be able to raise the GH¢4,000 and that even the GH¢1000, it took me almost two months to raise the money. I then told her to give me back the gold so that after I raise the GH¢4000 I will come back.”

The victim wrote that Nana Agradaa “then got furious and asked her bodyguards to dive me out. They pulled me out from the shire whiles my one and half year old daughter was at my back.”
