Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate hopeful, has revealed that his mother died as a result of stress caused by threats made against him by a politician’s sibling.

Agyapong said his late mother begged him to leave politics because she couldn’t handle the taunts and threatening texts he was receiving. “My mother died because of threats on me,” he said during an interview with Citi TV.

Threats were made by the sister of a fellow legislator, Hon. Collins Dauda, Agyapong stated and recalled his mother pleading with him to leave politics, saying she was afraid she would die as a result of his involvement.

According to the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, his mother’s death on the “13th of November” had a significant emotional impact on his life.

As Agyapong pursues the NPP’s presidential bid for the 2024 elections, the party has set November 4, 2023, as the date for the presidential primary to choose the party’s flagbearer.
