My church members and I are defecting from NPP – Computer Man

Prophet Eric Kwasi Amponsah

Founder and Leader of Hope Generation Ministry International, Prophet Eric Kwasi Amponsah, popularly known as Computer Man says he is no longer a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, he together with his church members are moving to another party over neglect of the ruling party.

Computer Man’s anger is borne out of what he says is total disrespect shown him by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), of Tano South Collins Offinam Takyi over the building of a community centre for the people in the Dwomo, a farming community near Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The man of God claimed the MCE has failed to accord him the necessary recognition for his role in the building of the ultra-modern community centre.

This was after the Tano South MCE at a news conference on Friday, March 16, 2018 claimed Computer Man played no role in the building of the centre.

At the said press conference, the MCE had allegedly indicated that the project was not built by the man of God, and dared Prophet Amponsah to provide documentary evidence to prove that he financed the building of the centre for the community.

The project Mr. Offinam Takyi said was built by the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South Constituency, Mrs Hannah Bissiw, under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government through the Assembly.

But Prophet Amponsah, who is a native of Dwomo in a response described the claims made by the MCE as “damaging and heart-breaking,” and vowed to exploit every available avenue to prove his case.

“I want to state on authority that the ultra-modern community centre was not built by the previous MP through the Tano South Municipal Assembly, but l built it with my own money and I have all the necessary documents to prove my case.”

Prophet Amponsah argued that, he funded the project, therefore the MCE by his actions was ‘sabotaging and stifling’ development in the area and, therefore, needed to be called to order by the President.

Computer Man said he personally reported the MCE to the Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Osei Opare but nothing was done about it.

He has given a Monday deadline for President Akufo-Addo to act on the matter or would be forced to defect to another party.

“We have supported the NPP for so many years and I am a native of the town and so I don’t understand why this MCE will sabotage me. I personally went to the President and spoke to the Chief of staff at the Jubilee House.

“They promised to do something about it but as I’m speaking with you, nothing has been done. I want the President to call him to order. If the President fails to do something about it, I will defect to another party with my members. I am a prophet and a stunt NPP man and so why should they treat me badly” he quizzed on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

This notwithstanding, Prophet Amponsah said he has sued the MCE for defamation at the Sunyani High Court.

He said the MCE’s utterances have adversely affected his finances as his donors and philanthropists now have serious reservation in donating to his mission.
