Nana Obombo Sewurah Lepuwura II, Paramount Chief of Guan-Agyode Traditional Council

The paramount chief of Guan- Agyode Traditional Council of the Nkwanta-South in the Volta region, Nana Obombo Sewurah Lepuwura II, has called on residents and the people of Nkwanta-South to change their attitudes to merit the municipal status as the district have been upgraded to a municipality.

Nana Obombo said this in an interview with Awake News concerning the lifting of the Nkwanta-South district to municipality status.

The Paramount Chief welcome the news and thanked the Volta Regional Minister for granting their request and said, now that the request has been considered and granted, residents must also change their attitudes to merit the municipal status.

He admitted that municipality status goes with a lot of responsibilities. Touching on the building system in the area, he noted that the old system of doing things and building haphazardly with no proper layout in the town, need to be changed, if not the name municipality will just be on paper but will not reflect the issues on the ground.

According to him, chiefs are responsible for the allocation of land but those who are in charge of planning and the layout are the government agency so the town and country planning has a lot to do.

Nana Obombo Sewurah, stated that politics is beefing into our system but we should try and put that aside so that when things are wrong today, they are wrong tomorrow and dealt with than doing things to favour one in the name of a political party.

He also called on the Magistrate Court Judge to fair and firm with cases brought before the court irrespective of one’s political affiliation.

The Paramount Chief urged the District Chief Executive, John Thasun, step up to the task since the district has been elevated to a municipality status.
