Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Mr. Samuel Nartey George has revealed that telecommunications giant MTN, will establish its second artificial intelligence (AI) lab in Africa right here in Ghana.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on April 14, Sam George shared that MTN currently operates only one AI lab on the continent, located in South Africa. The new lab in Ghana will serve as a “center of excellence” for AI, machine learning, and digital innovation.
“This move highlights Ghana’s rising prominence in tech and AI research,” he noted, adding that the initiative will foster collaboration among researchers, industry leaders, and innovators to strengthen Ghana’s digital ecosystem.
The project aligns with the country’s broader vision to become a key player in Africa’s digital future.
