A press statement issued by the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Mr. Samuel Koranteng on Saturday, noted that the foundation targets a total of 5,000 units of blood from over 30 bleeding centers that would be set across the 16 regions of the region.

Mr. Koranteng noted that, “the MTN Ghana Foundation instituted the blood donation exercise to collect blood to improve health delivery.

The initiative has been very phenomenal and it’s important to sustain it,” he added.

He further called on the Ghanaian public to come out on that Friday, which happens to be Valentine’s day to donate a pint of blood in support of the exercise.

“In view of our commitment to save lives through the blood donation, the foundation is appealing to the public to come out in their numbers to express their love on Valentine’s day by donating a pint of blood to help save a life,” he said.

The MTN ‘Save a Life’ project is an annual Valentine’s day blood donation exercise, organized by the MTN Ghana Foundation .

The initiative gives MTN staff and other individuals the opportunity to donate blood and stock the National Blood Bank and other eegional hospitals. The initiative which started in 2001 was in response to calls made by the National Blood Bank Services for voluntary contributions to replenish critically low stocks of blood.

The foundation has since collected over 14,000 pints of blood.
