Minister ‘screams’ over GHs80 price per bottle of Shito for Ghanaians stranded in China

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey expressed outrage when her staff who were sent to the market to buy shito for Ghanaians stranded in China said a bottle of shito costs Ghc80.

The minister vented that she can’t buy that shito for Ghc80 and will go to the market herself to get cheaper options. Ideally, the largest bottle of shito sells for between 25 to 35 cedis.

This was disclosed by Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu in an interview on Okay FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com. He was speaking about efforts by the government to get food aid to Ghanaians stranded in China’s Wuhan province following the outbreak of Coronavirus that has claimed hundreds of lives.

would personally go to the market to buy some at a cheaper price; so we are thinking of them; day by day we are talking with them”. Mr Agyemang Manu said.

Ghanaians stranded in China have mounted pressure on the government to evacuate them to Ghana. The minority in parliament last week gave an ultimatum to the government to urgently evacuate the stranded Ghanaians, especially students.
