Some sponsored hitmen, in 2018, gunned down the late Nene Atsure Bentah, Mankralo of the Prampram Traditional Area, for his opposition to the illegal enstoolment of a chief for the area, the area’s Stool Father has uncovered.

The late Nene Bentah was returning from the Greater Accra Regional (GAR) House of Chiefs, Dodowa, on the invitation of the House on his disagreement to what he described as the illegality in the enstoolment of one Quarcoopome Parker as the chief of Prampram, when he was gunned down at close range in his car.

He was alone when he was assassinated.

Numo Osabu Abbey IV, the Stool Father of Prampram Traditional Area, told a section of the press that their late Mankralo always insisted that he would never kowtow to any pressure from any quarters to illegally enstool Quarcoopome Parker as the chief of Prampram because Quarcoopome Parker, the claimant of the Prampram paramountcy, was an illegal heir.

“Even when he travelled abroad for an equally important engagement, Nene Bentah kept reminding Prampram not to install a new chief.

“Later when he arrived home, one Quarcoopome Parker had illegally been installed the chief of Prampram,” Numo Abbey IV explained.

Since then, the Stool Father and the three royal gates of Prampram, as well as indigenes who know the tradition and customs of the area, have disregarded Quarcoopome Parker as the chief of Prampram.

Numo Abbey IV said the three royal gates have scheduled this year’s October for the official enstoolment of a chief for Prampram.

But before that, the GAR House of Chiefs are meeting the three royal gates in Dodowa on September 16 on the fate of Quarcoopome Parker.

And for fear that the late Nene Bentah’s ill could befall them, Numo Abbey IV said he and the three royal clans had petitioned the Tema Regional Police Command for a heavy police protection to and from Dodowa.

“We petitioned the House of Chiefs on the illegality of Quarcoopome Parker as the chief of Prampram and on September 16, the three gates are going to Dodowa for the hearing. However, we have intelligence report that some hired assassins will be laying ambush on them either on their way to or from Dodowa, in a similar fashion as they killed our late Mankralo three years ago.

“Based on the latest security intelligence we have picked ahead of the September 16 hearing in the case between the said Quarcoopome Parker and the three royal gates who are challenging his legality, heads of the three royal gates namely, Abbey/Doku Mansro We, Tetteh Dzan Larbi Agbo We, Kwei Opletu We, call for armed police escort during and after the hearing at the House of Chiefs,” the Stool Father added.

He suspected the faction that engineered the murder of their late Mankralo could be behind the plot ahead of September 16.
