Manchester United Eyes Ruben Amorim as Potential New Manager,

Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim may be on the verge of replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. Following the announcement of Ten Hag’s dismissal, David Ornstein reports that United is in talks to bring Amorim to the Premier League.

The 39-year-old is reportedly open to the move, though the club will need to activate his €10 million ($10.8 million) release clause—a step they seem prepared to take.

Amorim has emerged as one of Europe’s most coveted managers, having led Sporting to two Primeira Liga titles since his arrival in 2020, including the club’s first league title in 19 years during the 2020–21 season. He also guided Sporting to the knockout stages of the Champions League in the 2021–22 season for the first time in over a decade.

His attacking philosophy and commitment to developing young talent have made him an attractive option, particularly given his relative youth in the managerial landscape.

In the interim, former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over as interim manager while the club works to finalize Amorim’s appointment. Currently, the Red Devils sit 14th in the Premier League and will face Chelsea on Sunday, aiming to avoid a fifth league defeat this season.
