Mahama appealed to minority to approve Amidu as Special Prosecutor – Ayariga

Martin Amidu and John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama played a critical role in the approval of Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor.

The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has revealed that Mahama appealed to the minority to approve Martin Amidu Special Prosecutor.

In an interview with Citi FM, MP divulged that the Minority Members of Parliament were encouraged by John Mahama to approve Amidu as Special Prosecutor. He added that the NDC had no issues with the appointment of Amidu, but, had some reservations about the act of the office of the Special Prosecutor that set up the office.

This comes against the previously widely held perception that the NDC and its flagbearer was against the appointment of Amidu as a Special Prosecutor.

Mahama Ayariga who was on the interview to ascertain the gospel truth behind the accusation leveled against Amidu by the member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, stated categorically that he has no knowledge of the medical records of former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu.

He added that he (Ayariga) is fighting his case brought against him by his uncle, Martin Amidu at the court and is never enthuse about being dragged into an issue relating to Amidu.
