Frank Wilberforce Nii Dua, a former Assembly Member of the then Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) has asked the Local government Minister to rectify an anomaly in the Legislative Instrument which established the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly
In exercise of the power conferred on the Minister for Local Government by subsection (1) of section 3 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly was established with Legislative Instrument, 2017 (L.I 2319) on the 14th of November 2017 with the following electoral areas specified in the First Schedule.
West Akromadeokpo
East Akromadeokpo
Nii Ashitey Akomfra
Okesekor
Aborlebu
Sutsurunor
Agblesan
Tsuibleoo south
Tsuibleoo central
Tsuibleoo north
South Teshie Nungua Estate
North Teshie Nungua Estate
All in the Ledzokuku municipality.
Section 11(1) in the second schedule of the L.I 2319 captioned Revocation and savings which reads:
“The Local Government (Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly) (Establishment) Instrument, 2007 (L. I 1865) is revoked” has an anomaly which must be rectified
The L.I 1865 established the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) on the 1st of November, 2007 and it was inaugurated on the 29th February,2008 with eight (8) electoral areas:
Akromadeokpo
Nii Ashitey Akomfra
Tsuibleoo
Sangorjor
Nii Laweh
Nii Odai Amlalo
Klowe koo
Blekese
In both Ledzokuku and Krowor municipality. In 2010 the eight electoral areas were further divided into 24 for effective local government administration.
The L.I 1865 (2007) which established the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly has been revoked for the creation of Krowor Municipal Assembly with L.I 2318 and Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly also with L.I 2319.
In view of the above, the provision in section 11(1) of the second schedule of L.I 2319 should have read:
“The Local Government (Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly) (Establishment) Instrument, 2007 (L.I 1865) is revoked.”
Frank would want to sue the Local Government Minister if the anomaly is not rectified
