Let’s Resist The Ridiculous and Killer NDC Presidential Filling Fee

NDC

I have to first and foremost thank all well meaning party members who have openly expressed their displeasure on the killer filling fee recently announced by NEC.

Comrades, the fact of the matter is that the NDC as a political party has come of age to be using this crooke fund raising models. Assuming without admitting that it is only one candidate who is going unopposed, will it therefore mean that the Ghc400,000 be enough to run our campaign as a serious party yearning for political power ? Is the NDC now for sale to the highest bidder?

What could have motivated NEC to arrive at this populist decision? Is it to siphon money from innocent party members who have voluntarily offered themselves to lead our great party, the NDC?
This filling fee is too high and will not be accepted.

The introduction of capitalism and class within the party threatens our very existence as a centre left party which supports social equality and egalitarianism. We can’t sit here and pretend everything is fine with our party financing. I am a strong advocate of the departure from the traditional way of financing the NDC to a more robust, innovative and sustainable way of party financing. The big question is why are we here today as a party? Can you imagine that a big party like the NDC doesn’t have any business running to finance it’s own activities……What happens to our dues regime? What’s wrong if we copy the ANC’s model? Why have we refused to think outside the box? What at all is wrong with our leadership at the top echelon of the party? Is this what they promised us during the recently held Congress?

Let me state here without any shred of doubt that majority of our party members subscribe to the issues I’m speaking to painfully.

We will not allow anyone to ever again use the party for business at the expense of majority of its members. No! Anyone who will stand on our way to victory must be sacrificed. Be it national executives or whoever, if you dare, the hidden anger of the masses of the NDC will consume you.
Based on the above, I will respectively ask that we all resist this attempt by people who should have known better but trying to use brute force to prevent otherwise hard working party stalwarts from contesting the NDC’s presidential primaries.

Today, it’s them…. Tomorrow it could be me and you so let’s rise to the occasion and fight the injustice within our great party. Let’s fight against the wrongs within the party. Our socialist ideals upon which the party was formed must be jealously protected to the later.

I am by this statement calling on the national leadership to as a matter of urgency rescind this populist decision and come out with a reasonable amount which will be payable by all the aspirants.

Long live the NDC!!

Long live Ghana!!
