Let Africa lead the way through our youth – Mahama to African leaders

Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on African leaders to give opportunities and resources to the youths to lead the way into Africa’s future.

“In a time when the global pandemic, COVID-19, has taught us many lessons, we have to let Africa lead the way through our youth” he said.

Mahama stated this in his Africa day celebration statement. He called on Africans to use this day to reflect on the vision of Dr. Kwame Nkurumah and peers who wanted Africa to have a voice in decision-making.

Read his full statement below,

Today is May 25, Africa Day. It is yet another opportunity for us to reflect on the vision and sacrifices of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his peers.

Today also reminds us of the need to work harder as a people and governments to improve on the legacy bestowed on us.

As the world’s youngest continent, Africa must ensure that our young people have greater access to resources, have a stronger voice in decision making, and are not discriminated against.

In a time when the global pandemic, COVID-19, has taught us many lessons, we have to let Africa lead the way through our youth.

The time to act is now.
Happy #AfricaDay!
