The Minister of Trade and Industry and the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond is in hot Waters as the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rejected his petition seeking the disqualification of his opponents in the party’s upcoming Parliamentary primary race.
Hon. KT Hammond who petitioned the National Executive Committee alleged that his opponents Samuel Dakwa Binfoh, Dr. Enoch Acheampong, and Kwabena Nkansah Asamoah are not card-bearing members of the party and have not done any work in the constituency to merit representing the constituents.
He argued that they are ineligible to contest in the poll based on Articles 12(4) and (7) of the NPP’s constitution.
Sources within the Adansi Asokwa constituency have revealed that KT Hammond upon realizing his unpopularity in the constituency has tried every means to ensure that he goes unopposed.
According to the sources, the people of Adansi Asokwa are far behind in development and he shows no respect to the constituents, as such they have vowed to vote against the NPP should the delegates vote for him.
The sources further revealed that Hon. KT Hammond nearly lost the last Parliamentary primaries due same attitude and has refused to change because he had no intention of contesting this year’s Parliamentary primaries.
The sources stated that many are wondering what informed his decision to make a U-turn when he knows very well that the ground is not favourable for him.
