THE KPANDO FIREARM INCIDENT; A CLEAR INDICATION OF HOHOE NPP PREPARING FOR VIOLENT ACTIVITIES IN THE 2024 GENERAL ELECTIONS

Out of great concern, I wish to share my sincere opinion on the recent happenings in the Hohoe constituency in relation to the NPP and their nefarious actions.

It is clear from all the reports gathered on the firearm incident at Kpando and the statements from the Ghana police service that these NPP gangs have committed various criminal acts and they must be brought to book and called to order.

It is evidently clear that John Peter Amewu branded pickup vehicle used for the “Save Dayi River” project is being used for criminal operations other than the intended purpose. The criminal acts perpetrated by these criminal elements are capable of endangering the peace enjoy in Hohoe and its environs.

A vehicle being used for a public project does not have a registered number plate. How?
In that same vehicle were found firearms, knives and several vehicle number plates. The only thing this can mean is that Hon John Peter Amewu gifted a pick-up car for his Constituency organizer, Tsriku Norbert, to engage in criminal activities in the constituency.

What are guns unlawfully possessed in that vehicle without a vehicle number plate?
What is the purpose of the several number plates in the vehicle?
Who knows if other operational vehicles are not in the constituency for the same nefarious purposes?
These are the burning questions all meaning constituents are asking which should not be swept under the carpet. Every concerned citizen of the Hohoe constituency and beyond including the security agencies should not take this incident lightly.

This is not just about a football match. The key actors in the incident, those who own the pick-up vehicle and the firearms used for these shameful and criminal acts must be arrested with immediate effect.

These key actors are political figures with an interest in the Hohoe Constituency in the 2024 elections. Their history should give us an indication that possessing such ammunition could be a grand agenda for the 2024 elections.

Let it be clear to those who matter, the NPP, Hon John Peter Amewu, and the security agencies that, Hohoe will not be as it was in 2020.

Let it be clear that we have other interested actors in the political space with the interest of the people at heart and will NOT sit and wait for them to take us for granted or manipulate us. We will take it to anybody who will not act within the confines of the law in the run-up to the general elections. We will have a bigger boat to meet them with. This impunity must stop.

Ghana police service is encouraged to handle this case professionally to clear the impression they are used by these power drunks. We are all watching and monitoring how this case will be dealt with.
The outcome of this case will be a springboard going forward which will encourage the constituent to trust the security services and the court and to whether to rely on them for safety or not. We are however very much aware of the provision of self-defense if that clear assurance is absent.

For the young men in the football teams in Hohoe; the Burning Stars and the Anointed Stars FC, we thank God for your safety and I wish you the best as you soar higher. For the injured, I wish you a speedy recovery.

Finally, no individual or group of individuals should think that it will be business as usual in Hohoe constituency again. We will stand taller in any form to mitigate any intimidation and threat. We will deal with anything anyone brings on board with precision in double dose if those who are mandated by law and the 1992 constitution fail the constituents.

We want to state that no one is above the law.
