Under the invitation of the H.E Benjamin Mkapa, former President of Tanzania, Ghana’s peace and civil rights advocate, Mr. Emmanuel Korsi Senyo is Tanzania for the 2018 Africa Leadership Forum on “Africa in the Global Peace and Security Architecture – Overcoming gridlocks to peace”.
The 2018 Forum which will focus a discussion on peace and security situations in Democratic Republic of Congo and Somalia is a follow-up discussion on an earlier forum converged August last year in South [ads1]Africa co-hosted by H.E Benjamin Mkapa and Thabo Mbeki.
The 2017 African Leadership Forum focused on “What are the issues and circumstances that hinder peace and security and what needs to be done to curb them for sustained peace and security?” and one of the key messages that came out of the event was a continues discussion on “Africa in the Global Peace and Security Architecture”.
Former President of South Africa, H.E. Thabo Mbeki is expected to hold the plenary section of the 2018 Africa Leadership Forum which will address the topic, ‘Africa in the Global Peace and Security Architecture – Overcoming gridlocks to peace’. The address will provide an overview of the status quo of Africa with regards to Peace and Security, and the interplay between this and the ongoing peace and security challenges facing the continent. This will in turn establish a shared foundation for the three focused sessions, and frame the final document of recommendations.
Mr. Korsi Senyo who is the Executive Director of Africa Centre for Peace Building (AFCOPB) is expected to make a strong case on how regional blocs across Africa must support research initiatives that will help to better understand the major causes of conflict situations on the content and practical solution to solving challenges.
The African Leadership Forum (ALF) is Africa’s dedicated space for open and frank discussion about the challenges facing the continent, by the continent. It is organized by the Office of the Former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Benjamin W. Mkapa in conjunction with the Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development (UONGOZI Institute).
