Pollster Ben Ephson has said that NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho is likely to upset the incumbent scribe, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in the upcoming national polls.
He said he believes with the right campaign strategies, Koku will beat his boss.
“If Koku does his campaign well, knowing that Asiedu Nketia also caused the defeat of the party, Koku could win and that will be a punishment for Asiedu Nketiah”, he said.
“Why should I be surprised? Even in the presidential elections where some people know they won’t get the vote of anybody, they still go ahead to contest. Koku has been a long-serving member of the NDC and I believe he will give Asiedu Nketiah a very, very tough race, and even if he beats him to it, I won’t be a surprise”, he added.
Koku Anyidoho, who has picked his nomination forms to contest the party’s General Secretary position says he has no ulterior motive for contesting other than to serve and strengthen the structures of the umbrella family than before.
With his message, “Party First”, the former Director of Communications at the Presidency believes that it is only when the structures of the NDC are strengthened that they could strongly bounce back to reclaim power from their political rivals, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 general elections.
Ephson said “Asiedu Nketia as CEO of the party takes praise and blame for all that happens to the party, and I suspect that delegates will say based on what is going on, they need another person and on that score, Koku can win. Of course, you are the CEO, the party has had a humiliating defeat and after that, there has been a litany of complaints”.
