King Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema Offers ‘Iftar’ to Needy Muslims

The Ghana branch of the King Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema (Islamic scholars) has donated food items (known as Iftar packages) to the needy Muslim community in and around Kanda (in Accra) over the weekend.

Over hundred residents benefited from the items—which included rice, cooking oil, sugar, milk, tea and tomato paste —aimed at supporting the most needy Muslims living within the neighborhood of the foundation’s local office—through the fasting period.

The President of the Ghana branch of the foundation, Shiekh Mustapha Ibrahim, stated that the donation was part of the Foundation’s plans to support Muslims in Ghana during every Ramadan—by starting with their host community of Rugga (Kanda).

Shiekh Mustapha appealed to the residents to accept the modest package in good faith —hoping that the foundation would offer extended packages next Ramadan.

On their part, the beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to the Foundation and prayed for Allah’s protection and grace to the entire leadership and staff of the Foundation.

Speaking about Covid-19, Sheikh Mustapha used the opportunity to advise the beneficiaries and Muslims in general to adhere to the
social distancing regulation, maintain regular hand-washing with soap under running water and desist from activities which may lead to further spread of the deadly virus.

He also called on Ghanaian Muslims to be prayerful whilst observing other measures to mitigate the pandemic and expressed hope that it will soon disappear “by the grace of God”.
