The Ketu South Municipal Assembly has become a hotspot for the Covid-19 pandemic as the municipality holds the highest case count in the Volta region as of Friday May 1, 2020.
In a recent update by the Municipal Chief Executive, Edem Elliot Agbenorwu he revealed that all positive cases recorded so far are linked up to persons who were quarantined on arrival into the municipality using unapproved routes along the Ghana-Togo border.
On April 12, 2020, six Nigerian travelers out of the 27 of persons who entered Ghana through Aflao, intercepted by the security officials and quarantined accordingly have tested positive to Covid-19.
Following the confirmation, a rigorous contact tracing was done and the result is that 5 more people tested positive for the deadly covid-19 pandemic as announced on Thursday April 30, 2020 out of the 76 test results conducted.
But on Friday May 1, 2020 the municipality recorded 10 new positive covid-19 cases out of a total of 72 tests conducted, bringing the total case count to 21.
According to Mr. Agbenorwu, out of the total 21 cases, twelve are foreign nationals who are in quarantine while the rest nine are Ghanaians who are contacts to the original six (6) positive cases.
He added however that, all these people are in a stable condition; while adding that, “I continue to urge all of us to remain calm and let’s continue to observe the protocols and follow the other measures instituted by the President and the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.”
