Ketu North: John Gatsi Foundation to award three teachers

The John Gatsi Educational Foundation is set to present award three teachers in the Ketu North Municipality for outstanding professional commitment to their work.

The teachers are among six teachers shortlisted by the Municipal Educational Directorate. The three teachers are Charity Love Soadzode who teaches at Eleme- Sovie Basic School. She started teaching in 2007; Agnes Ama Lumor teaches at Afife R.C Primary School and started teaching in 1991; and finally Rejoice Sadzo of Penni A.M.E Zion Primary School who also started teaching in 2007.

The finalist were communicated to the leadership of the Municipal Education Directorate in Dzodze at Bagome Basic Schools where the Foundation is conducting its 13th Competitive Mock Examination covering Mathematics, Science and English Language.

The Municipal Director of Education represented by the Human Resource Officer lamented about 5.1% fall in enrollment in 2020.

Concerning Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), performance based on grade 6-30, 32.35% passed in 2019 but dropped to 26.53% in 2020 with increasing numbers of teenage pregnancy in the Municipality.

The examination is being monitored by invigilators from the Municipal Education Directorate, volunteers and the founder of the Foundation, Prof. John Gatsi who is also the Dean of the University of Cape Coast Business School.

Before the arrival of Covid-19, last year, each year for over 10years, the John Gatsi Educational Foundation present awards to deserving students in the Municipality through the organization of mock exams.
