KATH workers resist attempts to sack CEO, Prof Addai-Mensah

Prof Addai-Mensah, CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

Workers at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti Region have kicked against a petition for the removal of their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah.

Kwame Adofo, a private legal luminary has accused Prof. Addai-Mensah of financial impropriety and procurement violations.

Mr Adofo, who served as legal counsel for KATH until December 31, 2023, in a petition to President Akufo-Addo disclosed that he has concrete evidence which shows the financial mismanagement and incompetence from the stables of the CEO.

But a joint statement emanating from the office of the unions dismissed such allegations saying the petition is fictitious, clothed in inaccuracies and doesn’t have legal basis.

“We recognize that the allegation against the CEO does not define his character and dedication to the well-being and development of the hospital. We witness what Professor Addai Mensah has achieved since he was appointed as CEO of KATH.

“We know his excellency, the president of the Republic, has his ears on the ground and knows the appointment of the CEO has positively impacted the hospital. We wish to put on record that we shall resist any attempt by any faceless individuals seeking to undermine the effects of the CEO because of parochial interest,” they said”

Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah until his appointment in 2022 as the CEO of KATH was a Senior Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
