According to a teacher in the school, Mr. Dzidzornu Epiphany, who [ads1]spoke on behalf of management, the rainstorm affected five classrooms, some teaching and learning materials, stationery among others.
” …the storm took off the roofing sheets of the classroom block. Even the rain fall on the books in the staff common room and then about five classrooms were affected “.
Mr. Dzidzornu explained that report has been sent to the municipality by the acting headteacher and the Education Director of the municipal but no response came from their end.
” …after taken pictures of everything , they (the headteacher and the municipal director) reported the whole issue to the municipal office and one week later, the municipal NADMO coordinator, municipal Inspector General of Police, the MP for Krachi East (Hon. Djato Michael) together with the Municipal Director of Education were here to see the whole thing, how it happened.
“They Municipal Engineer, who also came, took measures of everything. Up till now, we don’t know what will happen because they never came back to even inform us that this is how far they’ve gone with the issue”. He emphasis.
The school which has not seen any renovation for decades could now boast of only two classrooms to hold classes which are also not in good condition and this will affect academic work if an immediate response is not rendered.
“We are appealing to the general public and the government as a whole to help us get this thing done before we resume because without that if we resume, we are not sure academic work will be in progress and this will delay us”. Mr. Epiphany pleaded.
The rainstorm which occurred in Katanga a month ago, started around 12:00 pm and lasted about three hours and took the life of a basic pupil, rendered many homeless and deployed Roman Catholic Junior High School Block.
