Kasoa: Chief to set up security team to fight crime

A newly installed ‘Asomdweehene’ (Peace Chief) at Kasoa in the Central Region, Mr. Tajudeen Ibrahim Larry, has stated that he would set up a security team to augment the work of the police service to improve security of residents in the area.

Mr. Ibrahim, who made the pledge during an interview with journalists after his installation, also urged residents to always assist the police to arrest suspected criminals by volunteering information.

He observed that, the activities of suspected criminals, who were riding on the back of the cosmopolitan nature of the city, were discouraging investors and tourists.

The new chief who is also the Chief Executive Officer for a private security company, Larry Security Company, noted that fighting crime had become sophisticated, and there was therefore the need for residents and other stakeholders to collaborate with and assist the security agencies to deal with the issue.

“It is an open secret that the police service cannot be everywhere and that it is the responsibility of residents to provide them with tip-offs to be able to smoke out criminals in the communities”, he stated.

Mr. Ibrahim also observed that youth unemployment in the area contributes to the crime rate, and promised to support them get jobs to help reduce the crime rate. He praised the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Mrs. Mavis Hawa Koomson, for her efforts towards the development of the area.
