The Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Francis-Xavier Sosu has narrowly escaped anther arrest in connection with the last week’s demonstration – Awake News reports.
According to sources, the MP was touring some churches in the Ayi Mensah, Otinibi and its environs to thank the residents for showing up at the demonstration to register their displeasure and voice out their frustrations over the poor roads in their area.
On Monday, October 25, 2021, residents of Oyarifa, Ayi Mensah, Otinibi pour on the streets demonstrate. Their MP who was addressing the protesters had to ends the speech abrupt following an attempt by the Police to arrest him but the protesters resisted the attempt leading to the MP escaping.
The lawmaker the filed a contempt case against the Police in Parliament for which the Speaker has since granted the request and set-up a Committee to swiftly investigate the matter and submit its report to the plenary for a determination as to whether the police action meets the ingredients of Contempt of Parliament as spelt out in Order 31 of the Standing Orders of the House.
However, reports are that some Police Officers went to the Church of the MP today to arrest him in connection with the same issues but were again not successful.
