The Jubilee House, Tema Harbour, Kotoka International Airport, and other major national assets face danger of an earthquake.
These facilities fall within the earthquake Zone in Ghana, meaning there will be a huge destruction should there be an earthquake. The earthquake zone stretches from the Volta, Greater Accra, Eastern Regions and parts of the Central Region.
There is 3 (three) earthquake incidence recorded in the history of the country. One happened in 1615, 1636, and the lastly 1939 causing the death of 17 people and injuring 133 others.
This was contained in a report submitted to the president from the committee tasked to advise the government on ways to manage and contain an earthquake.
Due to this report President Nana AkuffobAddo has directed an immediate integrity audit of all public buildings to ascertain their state of preparedness should an earthquake in Ghana.
