The widow of John Kumah, former Deputy Finance Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP representing Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, has emphatically stated that her husband did not die of food poisoning.
This is contrary to published reports spread across mainstream and social media.
Mrs. Lilian Kumah revealed that her late husband was battling an incurable disease that was diagnosed by doctors in Germany almost a year ago.
She said it was this disease that took her life on Thursday, March 7, 2024, not food poisoning.
With a tone filled with sadness, Apostle Lilian, who is also the general overseer of the Disciples of Christ Ministries, pleaded with those who are speculating about her husband’s death to stop because it is aggravating the family pain.
She urged the police to act quickly against individuals like Bless Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, who publicly claimed about the poisoning of her late husband without any evidence Any supporting evidence?
“Why would someone (referring to Captain Smart) have the audacity to claim that he knows for a fact that a man like John Kumah, who served his country most of his life, was poisoned?
when working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why do we have to sit down without bringing this person to account.
“If it is true that a person who is not dead but is still alive declares claiming that he knew how my husband (John Kumah) died and how he was poisoned, and that person kept moving around for three weeks, that hurt me, that hurt me sad and I don’t know how best to express my disappointment at these false statements by Captain Smart,” Apostle Lilian Kumah said in an interview with Asaase Radio.
“If this country has a law regarding such false statements, I believe it is time for the country’s leaders to bring this evil person (Captain Smart) to justice to prove my false statements and naming those involved in the poisoning of my late husband,” Ms. Kumah added.
Apostle Lilian Kumah revealed the real cause of her husband’s death was a blood-related disease diagnosed in August 2023 during a medical examination in Germany, where she accompanied him.
She said that in all their medical consultations, both in Germany and Ghana, none of the treating doctors mentioned her late husband’s vascular toxicity.
“My husband is suffering but he never shows that he is suffering.
He endured all the pain to do everything he needed to do during his poor health.
“He was motivated by a particular motto that he always carried out: ‘We don’t do what suits us, we do what we are commanded to do.
‘So [despite] all the pain, he endured,” Ms. Kumah commented.
“From day one, since he was diagnosed in Germany, I participated in the treatment that my husband went through, and no one, not a single doctor told me My husband’s condition is due to poisoning.
“I have all the medical reports from Germany and Ghana and food poisoning was never mentioned in any of the reports,” added the widow of the late John Kumah.
Dr. John Kumah died at about 12:44 pm at Suhum Government Hospital after an ambulance carrying him, his wife and the doctor, from Ejisu to Accra, was diverted to the Medical Center facility Suhum when the ship’s doctor noticed that Mr.
Kumah’s condition was rapidly deteriorating.
