The prime suspect in the murder of J.B. Danquah Adu, Daniel Asiedu, has threatened to drop names of persons who contracted him to kill the former Abuakwa North Member of Parliament(MP).
According to him, he was contracted to kill the lawmaker.
[ads1]Daniel Asiedu yesterday threatened that he will name his contractors when the time comes and that “they are officials of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP)”.
Asiedu’s confession in court came as a surprise to many people who were in court.
When the case was called yesterday morning, he raised his hand and indicated that he had something to say.
When he was offered the opportunity, he confessed that he was contracted to kill the former MP.
He told the court, presided over by Justice Arit Nsemoh, that he was told to execute the plot after which he would be given whatever he asked for.
But he said after his arrest, nothing had been heard or seen from his “contractors”.
He confessed that only one person from the NPP had visited him since his arrest and was ready to reveal the names of the persons who contracted him if he was asked to.
When he was asked by the presiding Judge whether he was making the confession because of the promise or out of a threat, Daniel Asiedu, nicknamed ‘Sexy Don Don’, said “he is making the confession because he is now a changed person and wanted the truth to be out”.
The judge told the accused that he could not be released for confessing because he was in a committal stage of trial.
According to the Judge, the accused could only provide evidence of his confession at the High Court, where proper trial would take place.
But he was asked by the court to take a second look at his confession, and to further consider whether he would want to add more or retract his statement.
Meanwhile, the second accused, Vincent Bosso, told the court that he knew nothing about the case and has been frustrated since his arrest.
According to him, his arrest had hampered efforts to take care of his only son as he has been rejected by family, who now perceive him as a criminal.
Daniel Asiedu and one other person, Vincent Bosso, have been charged with murder and abetment of the murder of the late MP.
The late J.B Danquah-Adu was stabbed to death on February 9, 2016, at his Shiashie residence in Accra.
Daniel Asiedu who was the prime suspect was arrested two days after the incident with his accomplice picked several weeks later.
