Jasikan Diocese holds inter-parish choral festival

The Catholic diocese of Jasikan under the auspices of His Leadership Rev. Gabriel Akwasi Mante held its maiden biennial diocese choir congress at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Nkwanta South Municipality over the weekend.

The congress is aimed at promoting the spirit of singing and cultivating the culture of socialization, thus a tool for worship.

Speaking at the Congress, Rev. Father Bernard Kalangba, the main speaker for the occasion, under the theme: “The role of music in the liturgy” said, the importance of music in biblical religion is shown through the words that make up the sings since these words are commonly found in the Bible.

He, therefore, advise all the choristers to demonstrate godliness attitudes and use their music to win souls for the church.

Mr. John Tukpey, the Jasikan music director disclosed to Gateway that the importance of the Congress is to send a form of ‘good news’ through music and also bring together the various Catholic choir groups under the Jasikan Diocese.

The program drew about 11 Choir groups from Dambai, Katanga, Abotuasi, Teteman, Jasikan, Nkwanta, Kpasa, Brewaniase, Kedjebi and others.

The choristers, after the three days programme, thanked the organizers and also promised to preach the good news through singing in order to win more souls for the kingdom of God.
