James Gunu jabs Nana Addo over Hadzide reinstatement

A former District Chief Executive and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. James Gunu has questioned President Akufo-Addo’s decision to reinstate suspended Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Pius Enam Hadzide.

According to Gunu, he is not convinced over the President’s action, adding that the President only reinstated Pius because of his tour of the Volta region which starts today, Monday 9th July to Wednesday 12th July.

“You lifted Hadzide’s suspension because you’re coming to tour his home region, the Volta region”

Mr. Gunu is, therefore, calling on the President to publish the full reports of the investigation.

“Publish the full investigative report for us all to see” he added.

The Deputy Youth and Sport Minister and the Acting Director General for the National Sports Authority, Mr. Robert Sarfo Mensah, were on April 12th suspended by the President for their roles in the Australia visa racketeering scandal, after a preliminary investigation into the matter.

Addressing scores of delegates of the New Patriotic Party, NPP at the just ended Delegate’s Congress in Koforidua, over the weekend, the President broke the news of the Deputy Minister being exonerated by a report presented to him on Friday night.

The President thus added, he was going to ‘lift the suspension and return him to office’ on Monday 9th July; a day that coincides with his slated arrival in the home region of the Deputy Minister.
