James Gunu demands a retraction from Daily Guide for a ‘Mischievous’ headline

James Gunu, former DCE, Akatsi North

The former Chief under the erstwhile Mahama administration became insane with what he described as a ‘malicious, diabolic, fabricated and mischievously calculated headline’, to bring enmity between the two former heads of state (John Rawlings and Mahama).

[ads1]According to James Gunu, Daily Guide carried a story on a recent conference purportedly held with the former Presidents by MMDCEs who served under the NDC for the past regimes, dating back from Rawlings to Mahama, in tandem with the party’s reorganization execise towards the 2020 elections.

The conference was slated to have both former presidents deliver a speech but Jerry John Rawlings, did not turn up in person for reasons of ill-health.
Daily guide carried the story and stated in its headline that “Rawlings snubs Mahama at NDC’s Confab”.

The story went further to say that, the conference appeared to have been sponsored by the former president (Mahama’s) camp as part of the so-called unity walk.

“We find it unfortunate that daily guide chose to use such unfounded words to interpret the Founder’s absence; especially when his representative (Mr Nuamah Donkoh) told us the reason for his inability to personally be present at the function.” James Gunu said.

“Former president Rawlings attached so much importance to the conference to the extent that, inspite of his ill health on that fateful day, he sent Hon Samuel Nuamah Donkoh to represent him. Therefore, there was nothing close to he snubbing anybod. The said reportage was not only colored but just a meer assumption coming from daily guide”.

The former DCE also refuted claims that the conference was sponsored by the ex-president (Mahama’s) camp.

“We also want to put it on record that, the conference was solely funded by the Ex-MMDCEs.”

“We therefore demand retraction of the said story and unqualified apology for publishing that falsehood”.
