As today marks International Women’s Day, the Bono Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo has taken to his Facebook page to celebrate the Member of Parliament of Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo.
The vociferous youth leader in his message to the Gender Minister said, “Thanks a lot for your service to mother Ghana. You have resisted oppressors’ rule and you are now incharge, my dear.”
Efo Worlanyo also went on the name the former Deputy Majority Leader as his politician of the year.
“You are my politician of the year. Happy International women’s day. We love you.”
One will wonder why the stunned critic of President Akufo-Addo’s government will rather choose to celebrate a member of his opposing political party, NPP, and not any other women from his party, NDC but certainly, Efo Worlanyo may have jabbed the NPP government over their failure for passing the controversial and largely rejected e-levy bill which the NPP has linked to their own Sarah Adwoa Sarfo.
The NDC since the announcement of the electronic levy in the 2022 budget made it clear it is opposed to the 1.75% tax being imposed on Ghanaians for every electronic transaction citing the serious hardship Ghanaians are already facing amid profligate expenditures from the government.
Recently, the NPP MP for Asin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong descended heavily on his colleague, Adwoa Sarfo her long absence from Parliament and lackadaisical attitude towards government business in the house as the reason why the NPP side of the house could not marshal the needed numbers to help pass the e-levy bill.
