Involve Government Appointees In Regional And Constituency Committee Meetings – John Boadu

John Boadu, NPP General Secretary (Ag)

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he General Secretary (Ag) of the NPP has called on the party’s regional and constituency executives to involve government appointees in their meetings and other engagements. This, he said, would help bridge the “gap” between government and the party at various levels and also address the concerns of party members at all times.

He made this call whilst addressing the upper west annual regional delegates conference of the party in the regional capital, Wa, on Sunday, [ads1]July 23. He disclosed that the party would be organizing regular meetings between government appointees and party members at various levels in order to ensure harmonious relationship between the two bodies.

John Boadu noted that this was one of the considerations why 70 to 80% of MMDCEs were selected directly from the party, mainly party executives at the constituency level, which has never happened in the history of the NPP. Same could be said about other government appointments at the district and regional levels, he added.

The Chief Scribe of the NPP also used the occasion to commend the Upper West Region NPP especially the regional and constituency executives as well as the party’s 2016 parliamentary candidates in the region for working so hard to get the needed votes for the party in the just ended elections.

He stated that, “in the 2016 elections, we improved by as much as 7.5%, i.e. from our 2012 figure of 29.1% to a whopping 36.6%, whereas in the parliamentary elections, the NPP moved from zero seat to as many as 5 seats; almost drawing parity with the NDC, which had 6 seats in their so called political world bank”. The percentage gain in respect of the NPP’s parliamentary seats in the region, he said, runs in the realms of infinity, and therefore cannot be computed.

The general secretary of the ruling party once again expressed the NPP’s esteemed gratitude to the good people of the upper west region for doing what he said, no region has ever done for the NPP since time immemorial and promised them that the government of His Excellency President Akufo-Addo would NOT let them down
