The 28-year-old, Josephine Panyin Mensah, who was allegedly kidnapped and found by the Police has confessed that she was not pregnant.
She confessed to a team of medical and investigation officers attending to her at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region, Starr Fm report.
Starr FM also reports that the woman has asked forgiveness amidst uncontrollable tears from her husband Michael Simons who appears to be innocent and in a state of shock.
The report further revealed that the victim now a suspect, according to the police, has not had sexual intercourse with the husband Michael for the past three (3) to four (4) months claiming that she could lose her baby.
The Medical Director of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Joseph Tambil told Takoradi-based Empire FM that the hospital may release the medical report of the alleged victim to the police on Monday, September 27, 2021.
“The Police people are on the grounds and may have spoken to people but at the moment we haven’t issued a formal report to the Police. And I’m not in a position to confirm if she was pregnant or not until our report is given to the appropriate quarters.”
On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, there was news that Josephine had been found in Axim, however without a baby bump which according to eyewitnesses, she claimed had been taken by her kidnappers.
She was subsequently admitted at the Axim Government Hospital, but in a bizarre twist of events, the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said the claim of pregnancy and kidnapping by the woman is false.
Following the development, the Ghana Police Service disclosed that Josephine now a suspect, may have conspired with other persons over her possible disappearance.
Three other persons were arrested in connection with her alleged kidnapping, police say.
The Police in a statement said she was never pregnant hence it was staged.
“The victim, now a suspect, during interrogation mentioned the European Hospital in Takoradi as the hospital for her antenatal reviews and assessment.
However, Medical records at the facility suggested that the lady visited the hospital without pregnancy somewhere in October last year,” the police statement read.
Meanwhile, a senior medical officer at the Effia-Nkwanta hospital name withheld, the facility providing medical assistance to Josephine says the victim was probably suffering from Pseudocyesis.
