The Attorney General (AG), Godfred Yeboah Dame has promised not to interfere with the work of the Special Prosecutor (SP), Kissi Agyebeng.
Godfred Dame made the promise when Special Prosecutor paid a courtesy call on him today, Wednesday, September 1.
Godfred Dame, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, said; “I pledge to you my intention not to interfere with your work and I will not do that at all. I recognise your independence and I will make sure all the help you require is given to you from recruitment of competent personnel to budgetary allocation,”.
The SP, Kissi Agyebeng used the opportunity to appeal for attractive salaries for staff at the Office of the SP to enable them to be motivated enough to work efficiently.
“You can’t fight corruption with poorly paid staff and staff on secondments, it will be a lost battle”.
It should be noted that during the vetting of the SP by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Friday, 30th July, 2021, the SP said that he’ll make corruption very costly to engage in.
