The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged that his government will make the Keta Port feasibility study public.

During a media engagement in Ho, the former President said he will prioritize the development of the project if elected as President.

We will prioritize it [Keta Port], and once I become president, one of the first things I will request is the feasibility study of the Keta Port. Once we have reviewed it, we will make it public, and from there, we can proceed,” he said.

According to Mr. Mahama, the uniqueness of each port is important, as every port serves a different purpose.

He asked “If there must be a port there [Keta], there must be a specialized port for something because we have Tema and we have Lomé. If we are having an intermediate port, is it going to handle the same cargo that Tema and Lomé are handling?”

Mr. Mahama called out the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government for playing politics with the project. He expressed the opinion that the feasibility study must be given attention, saying “Those are all things that we have to look at and determine how to move forward and so they should stop playing politics with it and let us see the feasibility study, the design of the port and move forward.”
