I starved Ekumfi with development because they didn’t vote for Ato Cudjoe – Akuffo Addo

President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that he neglected the people of Ekumfi in terms of development because they voted against Francis Ato Cudjoe, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate during the 2020 polls.

During an interaction with traditional leaders from Ekumfi at the Jubilee House, President Akuffo Addo expressed his displeasure with how the people of Ekumfi Constituency voted which pushed Mr Ato Cudjoe out as a Member of Parliament.

The president lamented that, despite making him (Ato Cudjoe) a Deputy Minister, the constituents still voted against him. “Ato Cudjoe was your MP and I made him a Deputy Minister, yet you voted him out in the last elections; because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area, I have to be honest with you, but since you have brought it up I will pay attention to it”, President Akufo-Addo noted.

The traditional leaders were at the Jubilee House to plead with the President to extend development projects to the people of Ekumfi Traditional Area to make life a bit more comfortable for them.

Mr. Abeiku Crentsil, the current National Democratic Congress party’s Members of Parliament for the area despite losing his bid during the 2016 election staged a comeback in 2020 and defeated Mr Francis Ato Cudjoe of the President’s party – the NPP.

Upon listening to the plea of the esteemed traditional leaders, President Akufo-Addo stated that though he was utterly disappointed, he would do what it took to bring development to the area.
