NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC, has narrated how former president Rawlings declined to sit next to Mrs Lordina Mahama during the funeral of late Nana Yaa Nyamah Puduo II, Queen Mother for Sunyani Traditional Council
He said Rawlings upon realizing that the chair offered him was next to that of the former first lady who was already seated, opted for another one.
“They asked Mr Rawlings to sit by Lordina Mahama but he said no. he refused to sit next to her. Papa J rather sat closer to us (the NPP members) and was looking at our direction all through the funeral. He never turned for a second to look the other way, that is, where Lordina and the rest of the NDC members were sitting,” he stated
According to Abronye, NDC’s former regional chairman Nyamekye Marfo was made to sit in between the two (Lordina and Rawlings).
“He insisted that the former regional minister should sit between Lordina and Himself. He didn’t want any close body contact with her,” Abronye added.
The incident somewhat confirms suspicions that the party is disunited with its founder against the Mahama’s family.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings has constantly criticized the Mahama administration, claiming that some officials under the government have been corrupt.
