Accra Hearts of Oak have emerged victorious in the 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Charity Peace Cup after defeating Kpando Heart of Lions 8-7 in a nail-biting penalty shootout.

The ceremonial kickoff was performed by Ga Gbese Mantse Nii Ayi-Bonte II, setting the tone for an exciting encounter. Hearts of Oak, under the guidance of coach Aboubakar Ouattara, fielded a squad featuring eight new signings, including goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and striker Kwame Boateng.

Kpando Heart of Lions, led by coach Bashiru Hayford, started strong, with Kwadwo Obeng Jr. scoring against his former club within three minutes of kickoff. Despite numerous attempts, Hearts of Oak couldn’t find the net in the first half.

With two minutes remaining, substitute Mohammed Hussein equalized for Hearts, canceling out Obeng Jr.’s earlier goal.
