Stool Father of the Prampram Traditional Area, Numo Osabu Abbey IV, has commended the Greater Accra Regional Security Council headed by the Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, for ensuring peace during the area’s Homowo celebration which began on Tuesday.
The sprinkling of the traditional food, kpokpoi, which has over the years been met with chaos and physical attacks by factions, was performed under strict security supervision.
Feuding factions were directed to sprinkle the kpokpoi in their homes and Numo Osabu Abbey described the directive as welcoming and fantastic.
“The directive to sprinkle the kpokpoi was clearly spelt out to everybody and so for me, I am so happy that today’s occasion has been very peaceful. The embattled Chief, Nene Tetteh Wakah, whose legibility is being challenged in court, obeyed the directive to the letter. Peace has prevailed,” the Stool Father explained with elation on his face and voice as he spoke to the media.
Henry Quartey is, indeed, an action man and nobody could bend his instructions “and Prampram is so grateful to him. Nobody could brandish any weapon in town because the security personnel were alert. The Regional Minister’s intervention was timely, so today, Prampram did not witness any bloodbath.
“The state security needs to crack the whip on known troublemakers, who have made the area volatile,” Numo Abbey stressed.
Also elated at the peaceful sprinkling of the kpokpoi was the head of the Doku Mansro Abbey We, Numo Doku Abbey, who, however, expressed concern about the growing rate of the use of land guards to intimidate members of the three royal gates namely, Abbey We, Kle Opletu We and Doku Mansro Abbey We.
He entreated the Regional Minister to deploy all tactics to clean the region of land guards.
