High Expectations from Today’s 31st December Address by Flt. Lt. JJ Rawlings

JJ Rawlings

31st December will forever remain a vital and significant day in the history of our Great party the NDC.

A day that brought an end to all Coup de etats in the country.

A day that brought back the dignity of our country from the mess of our [ads1]politicians.

A day that gave power to the grassroots.

A day that brought the beginning of women empowerment in Africa.

A day that gave birth to Probity, Accountability and social justice which has become a benchmark for measuring the success of every government in the country.

It was a day that later ushered us into the 4th republic which has sustained our democracy to date.

It is indeed a day worth celebrating.

Today marks another day of remembrance and the expectations from our founder is very high by everyone in the NDC and the country at large due to the flit of corruption that has engulfed the country.

Expectations are high because we know the stands of Chairman Rawlings on corruption and how he hate to hear of the chronic disease called corruption .

We know of how Chairman Rawlings and Nana Konadu stood against some perceived “unpardonable corrupt” acts by some of our appointees in the Mills/Mahama and Kuffour’s government.

We heard how the former first family were vocal on their own government on issues of corruption and how they have severally fought against it.

Today the perceived corruption in the Mill/Mahama government in eight years has multiplied more than ten times in just one year of the Nana Addo’s stay in power.

Today in Ghana corruption has become part of our culture because of how Nana Addo and his ministers have turned the country into.

I remember lots of calls were made to our founder who is noted for his tough stand and hatred for corrupt officials in his own government and that of President Kuffour to do same to the current government but I believe he has been quiet because he wanted to give them time to settle as a government until a day like this.

It is one year for the NPP government and today is 31st December, a very significant day in the history of our country.

A day some people paid the ultimate price for being corrupt.

A day that started the major fight against corruption in the whole of Africa.

A day that reminds Ghanaian of how corruption was killing our nation before Chairman Rawlings came into the picture to save the country.

The day that reminds us of the stand of Chairman of Kuffour’s government on corruption.

Because of how significant the day is and what our founder stands for, everyone is expecting him for the first time ever in the one year administration of this government to tell them in the fact that they are the most corrupt government since independence.

We expect our founder to tell Nana Addo in the face the truth about his corrupt government which his own communication machinery can’t even defend.

We hear some people say NPP has done well because they have been condemning the actions of their own appointees but I know my founder will go beyond that political strategy adopted by the NPP and let them know how Ghana has collapsed under their watch due to their modern ways of stealing what belongs to the masses.

I trust my founder and I know he will hit the nail right on the head as he always does.

Happy Anniversary and may all of us see tomorrow as we begin the journey of 2018.

Together we can be achieved a lot as a party.
