The Greater Accra Regional Sports directorate organizers of the annual inter-district games have officially rescheduled this year’s edition for 2021 due to the COVID-19.
The Inter-Districts games were revived by Mr. Ewuntomah Richard Iddrisu in 2018 in order to unearth talents in the region ahead of any national games after years of dormancy.
This year’s edition was billed to come off at the Ada technical college last month but was suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to the director of the Regional Sports Authority on Tuesday 2nd June 2020, Mr Ewuntomah Richard Iddrisu stated that his outfit was already set to go with the games before the pandemic hit the country.
“We were already prepared, the venue, accommodation, transportation, and others were sorted out before this COVID-19 came to ruin everything,” The director said.
He also added that the participating districts were well-poised and had pledged their support.
“Aside from the 29 districts, 16 confirmed their participation and they were ready to pay their participation fees.
“The MCE’s, Officials, players and technical heads of the various districts assured me of their support, but they got disappointed when the news of the suspension of all sporting activities hit the country due to the virus becoming pandemic.’ Mr. Ewuntomah hinted.
The director also revealed that the rescheduled games would take place in March next year.
“We are planning of organizing the games in March next year, but we would have to meet the district’s sports heads and decide on an actual date as well as the venue,” he stressed.
He assured the districts of good and interesting games come next year as it will be bigger.
The director advised all the players, officials, technical heads to stay safe and follow all the necessary guidelines issued by the president, Nana Akuffo Addo and the National Sports Authority in order to prevent the spread of the virus

They were crowned the overall after clinching five medals, four gold, and one bronze
