Motorbikes for the 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region (GAR) are due for distribution to all the Assembly members.
The bikes were purchased by the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and it forms part of efforts by the government to resource the Assembly members in their local governance services.
Besides, the bikes are to enable the beneficiaries reach their electorate easily to deepen decentralisation.
The distribution of the bikes would begin in September this year.
Contained in a statement authored by Mrs Felicia Dapaah, Chief Director, Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) and copied to the Chief Executives of the various MMDAs in Greater Accra, the bikes would be distributed by Messrs JSA Logistics Ghana Limited.
The Chief Director, whose statement was on behalf of the Regional Minister, tasked Messrs JSA Logistics to ensure that the motorbikes were properly distributed and ensure that all the necessary documentations were completed.
she, therefore, urged the MMDAs to acknowledge receipt of the motorbikes in writing to the RCC and copy same to the sector Ministry.
