The District Chief Executive for Afadzato South who also doubles as the parliamentary candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Hon. Etornam James Flolu has expressed satisfaction with the measures the government has put in place to deal with the threat of the novel coronavirus disease.
He said vigorous measures are being undertaken by the Afadzato South District Assembly to adequately tackle the outbreak of coronavirus should it show its face in the district.
Speaking in an interview on Lukusi Radio’s Afadzato Morning Show with Wisdom Dorkpor on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, the DCE referred to the new novel coronavirus as ‘burger virus’ because it originated from overseas.
The DCE who donated various quantities of hand gloves, nose masks and hand sanitizers to the various communities and also disinfected the two major markets in the district, emphasized on the need to adhere to all the precautionary measures on preventing COVID-19.
He also cautioned that families should not jeopardize and put their lives at stake for the sake of love for those who travelled from the virus-hit cities to stay with them, but rather convince them on the need to self-quarantine to stop further spread of the coronavirus.
Hon. Flolu further warned that those commercial (Okada) motor riders found culpable of bringing Togolese into the country even as the borders are closed to restrict human movement across it, will be handed to the police for the law to deal with them.
He said the human race is locked in a battle against ‘burger virus’ (coronavirus) that emerged from overseas and has gone from an unknown enemy to be feared worldwide, in a matter of months and therefore, it requires uniformity from Ghanaian to defeat the deadly virus since it respects nobody.
The DCE with an emotional tone said; ‘Afadzato South District is paramount and every life in the district and Ghana as a whole is equally important and that, it is only God that can save us so let’s not relent in our prayers’.
