Gov’t allocates $3m for Yendi Water Project – Veep

[dropcap]V[/dropcap]ice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has disclosed that government has allocated an amount of three million US dollars to start the Yendi water project.

He said the water situation in the area is a peculiar challenge which the Akuffo Addo intends to resolve in anytime soon.

[ads1]Dr. Bawumia noted as they promised prior to the 2016 general elections, government has reduce the price of fertility to ensure farmers able to afford. He also reechoed that, the free Senior High School policy will be implemented in the next academic year (September).

The Vice President disclosed these comments at the Gbewa Palace at Yendi when he met with the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani on day one of his four tour of the northern region.

Dr. Bawumia said they have also initiated plans to upgrade the Dagbon State Technical School into a modern school.

He also reiterated that, the Planting for Food and Jobs will help farmers in the area.

The second gentleman of Ghana also admonished the traditional authority, elders and opinion leaders of the area to embrace peace. Adding that peace is the bedrock of development and for that matter, Dagbon cannot receive their share of the national resources if they are on turmoil.

Meanwhile, Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani commended government for allocating funds to work on the water project of the Yendi Municipality.

According to the regent, the northern region is basically a farming area and therefore, government should ensure the development of farming in the area.

He also seized the opportunity to urged his subjects to adopt behavioral change. Adding that peace is the bedrock of development. He however commended the security for ensuring peace and security in the area Meanwhile, Members of Parliament for Tolon, Savelugu, Nanton, Wulensi, Salaga and Saboba as well as the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed and other ministers of state such as deputy Agricultural Minister, deputy Energy Minister, DCEs and other officials.
