The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, says, he is not surprised the government has neglected his constituency of developments since 2017.

It is not logic that all electorate will vote for one political party, therefore, the fact that a government does not poll votes in a particular constituency should not be the reason for disregarding that part of country where the government generates revenue, Mr Norgbey told Awake News on the telephone during an interview to seek his views on a couple of issues troubling his people.

The Ashaiman legislator identified deplorable roads as the most pressing of the legion of developmental challenges.

“All the roads in my constituency are horrible and that is the main cry of my people. It is has been my headache since this government was formed in 2017. Roads and one of the E-block school building that were all under construction have been abandoned”.

“The E-block was at the roofing level when this government was formed. And the only addition they have done is roofing it. That is all. Why are we doing this to ourselves as a country?” Mr Norgbey quizzed.

All the ancillary roads that could ease daily vehicular traffic on the main roads are bad and, thus, mentioned Jericho, Lebanon, Starlight, Don Bosco, Taboo Line, Night Market, Lebene junction-Saint Mary, Zongo Laka, Asensu, VALCO Flat, Afariwa-Newtown and Official Town as some of the areas where the roads are so bad that should they be rehabilitated, heavy vehicular traffic in Ashaiman would drastically reduce, Mr Norgbey noted.

“As a result of the many bad roads in some of the areas I have mentioned, drivers are spending more on maintenance. Passengers are not spared the daily body aches as they have to be travelling on ‘azonto’ roads to and fro to make ends meet,” the MP described.

Ernest Norgbey said, he would continue to mount incessant pressure on the Roads and Highways Minister, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and raise the concerns of Ashaiman on the floor of Parliament until the roads are fixed.

The neglect to give Ashaiman their fare share of infrastructural developments, Mr Norgbey said is “too painful and my people are losing their patience. The government must turn its attention to us too.”
