Goaso has been named the capital town for the newly created Ahafo Region at a ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra.
Carved out of the south-eastern part of the Brong Ahafo Region the Ahafo Region becomes the 14th region in Ghana after President Akufo-Addo issued the constitutional instrument (CI ) to give its creation a legal backing.
Addressing a gathering made of chiefs and others, President Akufo-Addo observed that the potentials of development in the Ahafo Region cannot be doubted as the region is blessed with precious natural minerals such as diamond, bauxite and gold.
He assured residents of fair and equitable sharing of government projects.
Member of Parliament for Asunafo North Constituency who is also the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Evans Opoku-Bobie has been settled on as caretaker Minister for the Ahafo Region.
