CAF Executive Committee has stripped Kenya off the right to host the [ads1]tournament.
There have been calls from the sporting fraternity for the government to host the CHAN after a successful hosting of the WAFU Cup of Nations which Ghana emerged as winners.
Speaking on Asempa FM Sports morning show he said, “Something fundamentally went wrong looking at how we played in this WAFU tournament. I have been thinking as to how we didn’t qualify for CHAN looking at how we played.
“I have respect for teams but Burkina Faso is not a team to have eliminated us from the CHAN tournament. Drawing away and losing at home, there was something fundamentally wrong.
“I will plead with the Minister and government to give these players a second opportunity by bidding for CHAN tournament as the team pays the President a visit. The President should make that important announcement that Ghana will bid for the CHAN.
“The moment such statement is made the players will be much motivated. We thank the Sports Minister for lobbying for the tournament to be hosted here in Ghana.
He also made mention of the fact that the organisation of the WAFU Cup of Nations will testify that Ghana can host the CHAN.
“We can testify for the organisation of the WAFU tournament in Cape Coast, which shows that the Ghanaian is a better administrator of a tournament.
“FOX are very happy to have invested in the WAFU tournament after a very successful tournament”, he added.
Osei Palmer also mentioned that Ghana will host and win the 2017 CHAN and these players should not be denied of this opportunity.
The Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has already stated that Ghana is ready to host any CAF tournament.
