Gideon Fafa Korda: The next Assemblyman of Leklebi Duga Electoral Area

Local governance has always been left for aged as many assembly members that we all know in the past may be termed as “our grandfathers” but that reality has become a thing of the past.

As the Electoral Commission pulls the trigger for 2019 assembly members election to commerce, Awake News Efo Korsi Senyo has been looking at some of the people especially the youth who are showing interest to represent their local people in the local assemblies.

One of such young people who have a key interest going to the local assembly to push his local area’s development’s agenda is Gideon Fafa Korda.

Fafa, as affectionately called by his peers, wants to bring difference flavour to the local governance in the Afadzato District.

Before we bring you his full interview with Efo Korsi Senyo, let’s us know who is Gideon Fafa Korda.

Background and Education

Gideon Fafa Korda was born in Leklebi Duga in the Volta Region of Ghana, in 1985. He received his Basic Educations (Primary, JHS and SHS) in Leklebi Duga and has subsequently went to Accra Technical University formerly known as Accra Polytechnic in 2007 but could not complete his chosen course of study (HND Marketing) due to circumstances beyond his control. In 2014, he gained admission into Mountcrest University College in Accra, Kanda to study Bachelors of Laws Degree program (LLB). He is currently pursuing his national service program with the Judicial Service of Ghana (Appeals Court Division), Accra.

Career and Professional Activities

In 2005/2006, Mr. Gideon Fafa Korda joined an English based registered NGO (Madventurer) as a Project Assistant to work in many communities in the Volta Region including Leklebi Duga, Shia, Goviefe, Sogakofe, Ho just to mention few in the areas of providing basic amenities including but not limited to water projects, school buildings, toilet facilities and care works in orphanages in Ghana as a whole.

In 2011, after his returned from a short holiday in the United Kingdom (UK), he got a job offer from an Italian NGO (Amici Dei Bambini-Friends of Children Foundation) as a Project Manager” and because of his outstanding, honest and hardworking relationship, he got promoted to the position of Country Representative from 2013 to date. His main objective relating to work with the Italian NGO is to provide families to every abandoned child to become sons and daughters in our communities. As mentioned supra and as part of his training towards becoming a Legal Practitioner, he is currently undertaking his mandatory national service program with the Judicial Service of Ghana to enable him practically develop his legal career before he begins the second leg of the legal training.

Achievements

His involvement in the areas of community development cannot be underestimated. Through his long-standing partnership and other related work relationship with visiting volunteers, NGO’s and Chief’s and Elders of communities such as Leklebi, Ho, Have and many others; many infrastructural projects such as school buildings, toilet and health facilities in Leklebi Duga, Shia, Sokode-Gborgame, Goviefe, Sogakofe etc were built and are been used to date.

He was also awarded as been a part of the rehabilitation projects that took place during preparations towards the celebration of Leklebi Secondary School’s 40th Anniversary. His collaboration with some philanthropist cannot be measured as many young people benefited from educational sponsorship and in other areas of life.
