GHc82k car fraud: I’ve never been arrested in Kumasi, I’m Richard Takyi not Kwasi Banes

I'm Richard Tayi not Kwasi Banes

Following an Awake News’ report filed yesterday on a suspected fraud case at the Kaneshie, one Richard Takyi had issued a disclaimer to Awake News saying the picture used on the story was wrong.

According to Mr. Richard Takyi in a telephone conversation, the picture Awake News attributed to Mr. Kwasi Banes is misrepresentation adding that the picture used is his and was never arrested at Kumasi in connection with any fraud case.

Richard Takyi, however, told Awake News that he was called by the Keneshie Police to come to the Police Station in connection with the Awake News’ publication and that he was on his way going to the station. When asked how the Kaneshie Police got to know this phone number just by the Awake News’ publication, Mr. Takyi replied: “I am on my way going to the Police Station and will revert”.

Short after Mr. Takyi’s call, one Mr. Emmanuel Kissi Amoako also called claiming to be the brother of Richarch Takyi whiles saying the fraud case which was reported by Awake News does not make any sense to him also maintained that the picture used in the said story is the photograph of his brother, Richard Takyi.

“Do you know the picture you use is for my brother who has no connection with the case you reported. Do you know how this story is disturbing my brother in the workplace?” – Kissi Amoako said

Mr. Kissi Amoako threatened legal action if his brother’s picture is not pulled down.

According to Kaneshie Division Police Commander, (ACP) Edward Faakye-Kumi the case has been called by the Police CID Headquarters of the Ghana Police Services.

The suspects arrested in the case are expected to be at the CID Head Office tomorrow, and Awake News will bring an update on the issues.

The Complainant’s claim

The fraud victim, an auditor in Tamale insisted that the picture attributed to Mr. Kwasi Banes in the Awake News’ is actually the same person he paid the GHc82,000  to at the bank in Kaneshie. He also maintained that the picture in question was the same person arrested in Kumasi and transferred to the Kaneshie Police before granted police inquiry bail at the time his alleged accomplice was given a Court bail.
