Ghana’s total COVID19 cases hit 19; over 900 contacts traced

Ghana has so far recorded nineteen (19) positive coronavirus cases with over 900 contacts to affected people traced.

This is according to the Ghana Health Service Director General, Dr. Patrick Aboagye

According to him, two were reported from Greater Accra Region and one from the Ashanti Region.

The carriers include a 55-year-old Ghanaian woman; resident of the UK who returned to Ghana within two weeks and an 84-year-old Ghanaian lady who is a resident of the United Kingdom but came back to Ghana within the past two weeks.

From the Ashanti Region, a 27-year-old Chinese male who returned to Ghana two weeks ago also tested positive.

On Friday, March 20, the novel coronavirus cases in Ghana increased from 11 to 16.

Details from the Ghana Health Service’s website confirmed the latest development.

The five new cases were all recorded in the Greater Accra Region.

The latest update confirms fears community spreading has begun in Ghana.

According to the website, three of the patients have no travel history.
